Environment

For the Mirage team, environmental integrity means using our raw material—wood—and other natural resources carefully and innovatively to safeguard our ecosystems.

To this end, we have put in place a number of measures over the years.

Recyclage du bois et des rebuts

Wood and Waste Recycling
All wood waste generated when manufacturing Mirage floors is reused.
Reboisement

Reforestation
Mirage is keenly aware of the pressures brought to bear on its raw materials and financially supports organizations that specialize in hardwood reforestation to safeguard our resources.

Réduction de la consommation

Reduced Consumption
Raw materials are handled with the utmost care throughout the manufacturing process to protect them and minimize loss. Reduce, reuse, and recycle has become our daily mantra.

FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) Certification—Chain-of-Custody

Since obtaining COC (Chain-of-Custody) certification in 2001, Mirage has used the FSC® trademark on end products made of wood from certified producers that practice sound forest management. The wood we use in manufacturing our products comes from producers who care about responsible and sustainable forest management.

Hand Pick Responsible Suppliers

Mirage asks all its wood suppliers for written confirmation that the wood

  • Has been legally produced
  • Is natural and has not been genetically modified
  • Comes from well-managed forests that respect traditional and civil rights

Visit our page on the purchase of raw wood in the "Manufacture" section for more information.

Received the Éterne Award for Our Contribution to the Environment

In 2004, after three years of close cooperation with the Tree Canada Foundation, Mirage received the Éterne Award for its outstanding commitment and contribution to the environment.
