Architectural Custom Okanagan Home

Here, the floor doesn't just finish the space. It belongs to the architecture.

Set against the landscape of McKinley Beach in Kelowna, British Columbia, this custom home by Fresh Approach Designs brings together timber, stone, expansive glazing, and sweeping Okanagan views. Hickory Natural Character Brushed hardwood flooring, installed in 5-inch planks, carries that material-driven design across the open interior.

The species' natural variation is the star. Blond-beige, golden tones, deeper brown streaks, and expressive grain create a floor with real movement and personality. That contrast mirrors the exposed wood ceiling and custom millwork while adding texture to the home's large, airy spaces.

Our trusted dealerPloutos Flooring supplied and installed the hardwood, which shares the space with Ploutos Countertops with Cosentino, custom cabinetry by Truwood Custom Woodworks, and lighting from Pine Lighting.

The result is open, natural, and highly crafted, with hickory hardwood flooring helping connect the architecture to the landscape beyond.
